Getting Started
Do I need a credit card to start?
Yes — we ask for a payment method at signup, but nothing is charged for 14 days. Cancel before day 15 and you won't be billed anything.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
You're automatically moved to the plan you selected at signup. You'll receive an email reminder before the trial ends. If you cancel before day 15, no charge.
How long does setup take?
Under 5 minutes to get your subdomain, upload your logo, and add your first client. There's no implementation project or developer required.
Can I switch plans?
Yes — you can upgrade or downgrade at any time from Settings → Billing. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing period.
What if I cancel?
Cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. Your data remains accessible for 30 days after cancellation. After that, exported documents and records are still yours.
Security & Privacy
Can my clients see each other's data?
No. Every client's data is completely isolated. Clients who log into the portal only see their own documents, messages, and records — never anything belonging to another client.
Can other HR consulting firms on the platform see my clients?
No. Each firm's data is scoped to their organization and inaccessible to anyone else. Row-level security at the database layer enforces this — it's not just an application-level check.
Where is data stored?
Data is hosted on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security enforced at the database level. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
Is the platform HIPAA compliant?
The platform uses industry-standard security and data isolation. If you serve behavioral health, mental health, or other healthcare clients who share PHI through the platform, contact us to discuss your specific BAA and compliance requirements before onboarding those clients.
White-Label & Branding
What does 'white-label' actually mean?
Your clients see your firm's name, logo, and brand color — not ours. On Starter, your portal is at [yourfirm].peoplepracticeco.com. On Pro, you can point your own domain (like portal.yourfirm.com) so clients never see our name at all.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes — custom domain mapping is available on the Pro plan. You configure a DNS record pointing your domain to our platform, and we handle the rest.
What does the client portal look like to my clients?
Clients log in with their email and a PIN. They see your firm's name and branding, and have access to: their documents (including e-signed copies), a compliance calendar, HR tools, and a messaging thread with you.
Can I add team members to my account?
Yes. You can invite additional users from Settings → Team. All team members share access to your firm's client roster and tools.
The AI Tools
How do the 65+ AI tools work?
Each tool walks you through a few questions about your client's situation — state, employee count, business type, and the specific context. Then it generates a jurisdiction-aware document or analysis using Claude (Anthropic's AI model). You review, edit if needed, and deliver.
Which states do the tools cover?
All 50 US states. Tools that require jurisdiction-specific knowledge — like the leave law configurator, multi-state navigator, and background check compliance guide — pull live employment law data to ensure the output reflects the right state rules.
Is the output reliable enough to send to clients?
The tools produce high-quality starting points, but you're the HR professional — the output is meant for your expert review, not to bypass it. Think of it as a research assistant and drafter that handles the jurisdictional complexity and initial structure, while your judgment determines what goes to the client.
Can I save tool outputs to a client's record?
Yes. Every tool has a 'Save to Client' button that files the output directly into that client's record. Saved outputs are searchable and organized by tool category.
E-Signature
How does e-signature work?
You connect your own Dropbox Sign account in Settings → E-Signature. Once connected, documents generated in the platform can be sent for signature with one click. Signed copies are automatically stored in the client's record and visible in your sent documents tracker.
Do I need to pay for Dropbox Sign separately?
Yes — you connect your own Dropbox Sign account. We don't resell signatures; you own your e-signature account directly.
Which document types can be sent for signature?
Offer letters, independent contractor agreements, severance agreements, PIPs, progressive discipline notices, COBRA notices, sub coverage policies, review templates, and accommodation agreements. More document types are added regularly.
Integrations
What integrations are available?
Dropbox Sign for e-signatures, and Slack for portal notifications (you get a message when a client sends you a portal message). HRIS integrations — Gusto, Rippling, BambooHR — are on the roadmap.
Does it connect to payroll systems?
Not yet. HRIS and payroll integrations are planned. In the meantime, the platform works alongside your existing payroll and HRIS setup.
